OUR FOUNDER
Heather Greene
I was fortunate to grow up in two cities, Atlanta, and New Orleans, but it was the small town of Natchitoches, Louisiana, that left an indelible mark on my life. Both sides of my family hailed from this tight-knit community where I discovered the true meaning of hospitality and the value of hard work and land stewardship.
On the family farm, I spent countless hours perched on the kitchen counter beside Meme, making biscuits and cobblers from berries we picked that morning. She imparted her wisdom, teaching me the art of canning vegetables, jellies, and jams. Grandpa proudly drove us around the farm, showcasing his crops and cows. Neighbors frequently dropped off fresh eggs, milk, and cream. Meme never let anyone leave empty-handed. They lived by the creed of growing what they ate and wasting nothing. My other grandparents lived on the lake. Papa was my fishing mentor, teaching me not only how to catch fish but also showing me how to clean what I caught. Nana instilled the art of setting a formal table and more manners than I could appreciate as a child.
Today, I carry the rich tapestry of these experiences. The spirit of true hospitality, the appreciation for the land, and the ethic of hard work and respect are the foundation of everything I do. These lessons, learned on the farm and by the lake, have become an integral part of my identity, and I am forever grateful for the heritage that continues to guide me.
I want to give back to the community and support other local businesses. I want to stand together with a community of change-makers, driving innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in everything WHG does.
